McGwire had the right opportunity and he did not take advantage of it. Although he did apologize for his actions a few years later, it would have been "more" ethical if he apologized from the beginning. McGwire's unconfirmed use of steroids has been a scandal for years. I think if he apologized at the right moment, the controversy surrounding him would have died down a lot earlier. Because he brought back the subject of using steroids years after the case, he brought back the controversy to the media.
